Silverlight Converter Hands-On Lab
8/18/2009 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
The combination of binding and notification has resulted in significant changes to the way the developer manages the UI in Silverlight and WPF. One of the lesser utilized (and understood) tools in this new technology is the Converter. This month, bring your laptop loaded with a Silverlight development environment (Silverlight 2 or 3) and participate in a hands-on lab to create a variety of converters step-by-step. No laptop, no problem; come, watch and learn, then download the code afterwards. Scott Davis will lead the group through the creation of some core converters that can be leveraged in any application, as well as explore converters necessary for binding the dreaded Combobox control. See how converters are a great way to automatically change the UI layout and display.
